Andrea Ghiselli graduated in Medicine and Surgery, and specialized in Internal Medicine at University of Rome Sapienza. He began his research activity at the National Institute of Nutrition (CREA Center for Food and Nutrition Research). He has been a Research Director until March 2021. Currently retired.
The main field of research has been, since the beginning, the study of the effects of diet on human health at the different stages of the life cycle, with particular regard to the dietary modulation of oxidative stress and non-communicable diesase. Professor of “Dietary sciences applied to macronutrients and functional compounds” for the first level degree course for DIETIAN at the University of Rome Sapienza.
Professor and Scientific Director of the Master in Food Science and dietetics at Unitelma Sapienza.
President of the Italian Society of Food Sciences and Nutrition (SISA) and member of the Panel of Experts that produced the 2003 revision of the Italian Dietary Guidelines, as well as President of the Commission for the 2018 revision; member of the Editorial Board of LARN (Dietary Reference Intake Levels) 2014.

Già laureato in Medicina e Chirurgia e specializzato in Medicina Interna presso l’Università La Sapienza di Roma. Ha iniziato la sua attività di ricerca presso lo National Institute of Nutrition (CREA Center for Food and Nutrition Research). È stato direttore di ricerca fino a marzo 2021. Attualmente in pensione.
Il principale campo di ricerca è stato, fin dall’inizio, lo studio degli effetti della dieta sulla salute umana nelle diverse fasi del ciclo di vita, con particolare attenzione alla modulazione dietetica dello stress ossidativo e delle malattie non trasmissibili. Docente di “Dietary sciences applied to macronutrients and functional compounds” del corso di laurea di primo livello per DIETIAN presso l’Università La Sapienza di Roma.
Professore e Direttore Scientifico del Master Food Science and dietetics presso Unitelma Sapienza.
Presidente della Società Italiana di Scienze di Scienza dell’Alimentazione (SISA) e membro del panel di esperti che nel 2003 ha prodotto la revisione delle Linee Guida per una sana alimentazione italiana, nonché Presidente della Commissione per la revisione del 2018; membro dell’Editorial Board dei LARN (Dietary Reference Intake Levels) 2014.
