The Annual Summit of the Global Trade and Innovation Policy Alliance (GTIPA) was held in Washington DC, on December 2-3.

GTIPA represents a network of more than 40 world-leading think tanks dedicated to advancing a positive view of trade, globalization, and innovation for the benefit of the global community. The GTIPA’s annual summits bring together alliance members with world-leading experts to explore creative solutions to the difficult economic, trade, and innovation challenges facing the international community.

This year’s summit explored: COVID-19 and digital transformation; the future of the WTO and global trade; transforming global supply chains for greater resiliency; getting intellectual property and data policies right to support innovation; and how states and regions can introduce effective public policies to stimulate local innovation. The event can be attended in-person or watched via livestream.

Pietro Paganini took part to the event with a talk on sustainable supply chains. He explored changes in supply chains after COVID-19, the clash between globalization and glocalization, and the impact of new policies, such as the one that the EU is designing.

The event was hosted by the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, based in Washington DC. Past summit were hosted in Milano and Mexico City. In 2020 the summit was held online in a lighter version. 2022 Summit will be held in person in Seoul, South Korea.
